Luck is a quality no character can gain or lose, partly for technical reasons.<ref>"Funnily enough a boon that grants Luck was in the original design for Irem. It was cut because this actually does not work in the game." Bruno Dias, Failbetter Games Discord, 13 July 2023</ref> The difficulty of Luck challenges can sometimes be modified by other qualities instead, such as {{IL|A Little Knifework}}. Luck challenges may also have rare successes, as sometimes seen when upconverting economy items.
