The Alarming Vicar is gamely continuing his duties at the occupied church. It might provide an opportunity to observe the bat in its habitat.

Description summary:
The description varies based on your value of .

AirsDescription
1 - 9The Vicar attempts a sermon on the unity of church and state, the upkeep of the home and the upkeep of the heart. It is a message of harmony and order; […]. It is all going well until the bat dives into the choir and sends the choristers running.
10 - 19A flower-arranger departs the church in tears. Her scented spider-silk chrysanthemums have been despoiled by the remnants of the bat's last meal, deposited from on high.
20 - 29A schoolteacher has brought in a class of sullen schoolchildren for a tour of the historic belltower. The bat has been abroad for several days, so the Vicar has given his blessing. A chorus of high-pitched screams suggests this was a mistake.
30 - 39A league of senior churchladies arm themselves for battle. […] they march to the belltower. Some hours later, the Vicar ventures up himself. He finds the ladies cooing over the bat, which is rolling about on the floor, entirely on its best behaviour.
40 - 49[…] The bellringers are on strike; they refuse to work under these conditions. There are hazards in operating heavy iron church bells – […] having one's fingers devoured by an avaricious giant bat is not recognised by the insurance companies.
50 - 59[…] some brave parishioners have created a replica bat, in hopes of enticing the original. Unfortunately, this simulacrum was designed by committee […]. It does not have the desired effect. The Wings-of-Thunder bat devours it immediately.
60 - 69The Vicar presents a sermon on humility and the importance of doubt within the life of faith. The Vicar's vestments and pulpit are liberally daubed with guano, and his utterances punctuated by hideous screeching from the belfry. […]
70 - 79A planned visit by the Bishop of St Fiacre's is postponed. While all are certain he could solve the problem, no one wants to be around when it happens.
80 - 89A nervous deacon delivers the homily today. […] He finishes the thin gruel of his sermon on Christian charity and steps down from the pulpit. He thinks he's got away with it, when the bat descends and devours his stole.
90 - 100Remarkably, attendance is up […]. Sight-seers come to have a goggle at the bat, while enterprising types hand out spotter's manuals. A canny verger has introduced a range of commemorative merchandise to the stalls at the back of the church.
