It is a ruler that does not rule and a scale that does not weigh, a device inscribed with Correspondence and a product of the Red Science. When it works, it can make small things much larger, and large things much smaller. When it does not work – which is most of the time – it brings about excruciating distortions and gives researchers a swelled head.
