Trivia: Choose Watcher as your Profession (The Great Game Connection Card)

MzsIn my ongoing search for RL references and inspiration in FL (cue theme from The Surprising Adventures of Sir Digby Chicken Caesar) I've stumbled on the Whispers from the Surface: The Great Game card. The Watcher profession option has the line "They also serve who only stand and watch."
That is the last line in John Milton's On His Blindness sonnet. While the sonnet itself deals with religious feelings and the search for meaning in life, in has some ideas that settle well with FL. The God in the sonnet is harsh and unfathomable - adjectives which can easily describe The Masters, The Great Game or any other significant powers in the Neath. The first lines of the sonnet are quite relevant to FL:
- "When I consider how my light is spent
- Ere half my days in this dark world and wide"
Mind you, the "They also serve..." line is very popular and is used everywhere for obvious reasons. For instance, it's also used in Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal in the Watcher's Keep dungeon.
