The King breaks the lock on the target's door and 'happens to' be conspicuously working as a locksmith nearby the next morning when it's discovered. He's hired to fix the jammed lock. 45 minutes later, he's repaired it and modified it to stab a poisoned needle into the target's hand during the hour the target comes home from the Singing Mandrake. The target won't feel the needle after a few drinks.
