Success

One for Darwin

[…]A great ape! It retains the lion's claws and fangs[…]

The Bishop turns to you and says, 'Haha! Well done! It even looks a bit like old Darwin, don't you think? I'll set this feller on devils. Or possibly atheists, eh? They don't like it up 'em!'

Description summary:
You last see your pet as it is being led peacefully into the barn. The birth itself is too dangerous - and too mucous - for you to witness. But the result is a great silver-grey ape. The creature's face as it closes the trapdoor is a picture of relief, tempered by fear. Well, it is clearly more intelligent than the Tomb-Lion.

Failure

Time for a thrashing

[…]The trap door snaps open again and a clawed hand grabs the ape. It screams as it is dragged back into the barn.

The Bishop turns to you and says, 'Damnation! I hate it when that happens. Someone find out who forgot to feed the bat[…]'

Description summary:
You sit out on the whole violent, visceral, mucous process. When the newly-birthed creature finally struggles free, its face is a mixture of fear and relief. It is a great silverback, well-equipped with sharp claws and teeth. When you look at its eyes, you are sure of its intelligence. If only you'd had more time to get to know it.
