All of the references to this quality were added well after the Laboratory was originally released, when it had a substantial mechanical overhaul. It's possible this quality is only used in experiments that no one performs a second time, either for story reasons or because they can't be bothered. It's equally likely this is part of the rework that was planned and later ditched, but not fully extirpated.

Since no one's seen in for a while now my bet would be on the latter, but if it is used my guess is some of the statistics research.
