How to unlock[edit]
You'll first need access to the Roof from the Firmament storyline, which will begin once you've reached 40. Once you're in Hallow's Throat, you'll want to raise to 2 to access The Arms.
To unlock Ecdysis, you must ingratiate yourself to some smugglers in The Arms, either with a 180 challenge if you have 10, or a 240 challenge and .
This will increase and reward you a single , after which the Proprietress will forward you to the Resculptor. Offer her the Ambergris and Accept her gift, she will introduce you to the process of Ecdysis. If you have somehow lost your Ambergris between these steps, another can be purchased at this time in The Arms for .
This first round of the carousel acts as a tutorial and only allows the monetary reward "Emerge as a freshly-made self". You'll gain the quality, allowing Boon rewards on subsequent rounds.
This process will increase your to 8, from now on you'll be able to access the carousel via The Path to the Spleen in Hallow's Throat.
Progress[edit]
The carousel has two main qualities: tracks your progress (21 CP to finish), while determines which kind of rewards you can get. is a secondary quality that governs how the possible boons can be stacked.
At the end you'll be able to choose between two types of rewards: a Boon that lasts for roughly a week or a purely monetary reward.
- If you plan on cashing out, you can ignore and and focus on finishing as fast as possible.
- However, if you want a certain boon, you need to pay close attention to which option will push into the range needed for your boon. Your starting is randomized, and the challenges are exceedingly high, so you might not be able to get the boon you wanted on your first try.
Starting from 2, the carousel is heavy on menaces, namely and . Root yourself in place is the only safe option and is always available, but only yields 1CP of . If your focus is on cashing out and/or finishing as quickly as possible, it might be worth taking the potential 4CP to each menace in exchange for finishing the carousel in only 9 actions (as opposed to 19 actions and no menaces). Do keep in mind the actions required to reduce your up to 8 CP in menaces per carousel run, you can expect to spend at least 2 additional actions on Aid requests, and if you run the carousel 3 times for the maximum (giving 24 CP in menaces), you can expect to spend at leat 4 actions if you take the best options for and aid requests unless you have a better or more profitable method to spend your actions on. Thus it might be for the best to mix in safe options instead of going purely menace free or all menaces.

The option to cash out is always available. Note that two of the resources gained ( and ) can be converted into the Roof-specific currency . If you do so, the carousel gains you 320 as well as 37.5 in other items, totaling 53.5.

Instead of a monetary reward, you can choose to gain a boon, Each boon gives between 1 and 3 points of .
