From: A Conundrum of Cavies

Why guinea-pigs? Why not rats, for instance?

Success

"A long tradition."

"I have been constructing and honouring the House of Cavy since boyhood. […] The progenitors […] lie in state here […]!" He points at a […] box on his desk. "[…] Rats are filthy […] creatures. […] So guinea-pigs it is."

Description summary:
Rats are apparently ignoble and a mockery of any estate system, and this is a tradition that has been passed down in the Essayist's family for generations. Not the most outlandish thing in the Neath, but it is up there.
