From: Heart's Desire – Back to the Manager

Could it be that the Manager is avoiding you? He won't speak of the Marvellous inside his Hotel. And does he go anywhere else? Does he attend clubs and salons? Probably not. You'll have to catch him in the street.

Success

A promise and a statue

[…] "Oh, I'd play the Marvellous if I could. I've suffered at their hands longer than anyone. […] But […] I promised I wouldn't. And the only promises I've ever kept are to him."

[…] "Polythreme. […] Ask him to release me from my promise. […]"

Description summary:
You find the Manager staring at a status of Weeping Harold.

He tells you that if you take enough Lethean Tea leaves, they stop working and apparently he wants to forget things. He says he might play but that he promised to "him" that he won't. "He" came from the East.

He tells you that if you want him to play, you should go to Polythreme and get "him" to release the Manager from his promise.

Failure

Alone in the crowd

The streets of the Fifth City fill the senses. The damp familiarity of the fog, the smell of coal-smoke and horses and a sewer system that didn't enjoy its transition to the underworld. But no Manager. Will you ever find him?
