Success

The leagues of your hand

Your first hand is poor, […] Your next hand is better […] shadows behind the Manager […] his bespoke nightmares bear down on you.

[See table]

The Manager […] loses the hand […] he loses the next, and the next […] a new nightmare blossoms beyond […]

Description summary:
You play carefully. Eventually, the Manager summoned his nightmares - yours to be exact. They are the personification of your insecurities and worries. You deploy your dream-battalion and crush them. BattalionVarying passage
1But you have marshalled dreams of your own. You unleash your tamed fire. Cinders rain over the garden then, and the inferno roars its freedom. It devours the shadow-kings one by one, the tines of their crowns blazing like brief candles.
2But you have marshalled dreams of your own. You summon the dead. They whisper into the garden in a grey throng, and press in on the nightmare-kings. A silent battle takes place, and the dead are victorious. Fear is for the living; the dead have none.
3But you have marshalled dreams of your own. You open your mouth and speak the thunder. It rolls out like a war-chariot, scything through the bounds of the garden. It stabs with a spear of lightning, casting the nightmare-kings from the garden.
4[…] You order your army of chess-pieces forward, and they spring forth, sword and mace and shield in hand. The Bloody-Handed Queen suffers no competitors. In the Garden of Nightmares she wreaks a slaughter on the nightmare-kings, laughing as they fall.

But the Manager's bespoke nightmares have achieved their end. Your play is distracted, faltering. […] But he isn't immune to the conflict raging around you, either. […]
