An invalid/unknown ID renders the parameter as is:
{{Intercepted Document|1}} → 1
The template can also handle some predefined-ranges, as per the subsections of Intercepted Document:
{{Intercepted Document|2-5}} → 2-5
Spacing around the dash doesn't matter:
{{Intercepted Document|2 - 5}} → 2 - 5
