New from betterblog:

We're adding variable action costs. We're tweaking carefully, but it means that some choices will have bigger rewards and bigger costs, so you just need to click the button once. You'll also notice that a few actions, like drinking Darkdrop Coffee, are now free.

Alas! Our current Action template does not support this feature. We want your ideas - what is the best way to handle this change?

It's not entirely clear what they mean - some options may cost more or less than 1 action? (Renaming your pet has been added as a zero-cost action). The same options may, at different times, have different costs/rewards? Lacking other examples, I guess we'll wait and see... Jemann 05:14, January 28, 2012 (UTC)

Is there some way to include an 'Action Cost' in the template, that will only display if the user enters a value (presumably something other than 1)? Jemann 05:47, January 28, 2012 (UTC)

e.g. Would the line

{{#if: {{{Action cost|}}} | '''Action Cost: {{{Action cost}}}''' | }}

Apologies for the late reply, my notification for this forum post got lost in the chaos of my inbox -_-

An if statement - I didn't know that was possible! O_O I'd like to know where you got the documentation for that please, it might come in handy in simplifying other templates! :D

I went googling and found documentation at

and a specific #if example at

It seems to be doing some odd things with that <noinclude> there - the Template Documentation is appearing on pages using the template. But the Action Cost is hidden or visible correctly, at any rate :) Jemann 08:24, January 31, 2012 (UTC)

Wow thanks. Oddly enough the page looks familiar to me. I can only guess that "TL;DR" came to my mind when I created this wiki a year or so ago.
