Semantic MediaWiki to replace Category Tree[edit]

Hi!

I noticed you started some work on using Semantic MediaWiki (#ask) as a replacement for the Category Tree parser function. I'm the resident SMW booster, and I've made some experimentation in that direction myself, although I got sidetracked by a few other things. Feel free to ask me any questions about that stuff. I'd love for it to roll out to more uses, and I still intended to do work to promote that in my infinite(simal) spare time.

I'd like to share my own work-in-progress, in case they're helpful to borrow from for what you're doing.

Firstly, {{Property listing}} which is intended as a very-near functional replacement for {{Category tree}} (which wraps the parser function). This Template is intended not just to replace the use of the Category tree template, but also remove the need for thousands of category pages, most of which merely contain a call to {{Item Sources}}. The problem being, a handful of them do have valuable content, so most of the complexity of the template is to create a flow where users can optionally create a Guide-type page in the Concept namespace. It has the useful features of looking like the current Category Tree, and then linking to page that looks like the current Category pages.

You can see examples of it in use in a few pages in my Sandbox, e.g. User:PSGarak/Sandbox/Shard of Glim or User:PSGarak/Sandbox/Volume of Collated Research (the latter has a Concept page).

Secondly, if I'm reading your sandbox page right, it looks like you're trying to surface some "obtainability" information. Like whether certain options are seasonal or Ambition-specific or what-have-you. I made an experiment a while back for that, which you can see at dev:User:PSGarak/Sandbox/Source test.

Other examples of things I've tried on the dev wiki are catalogued in Blog:PSGarak/Works in Progress with Semantic Mediawiki. PSGarak (talk) 20:08, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

A Glimpse of Worlds through Honeyed Glass[edit]

Hi Thorsb! Do you remember where you obtained this metaquality? Try.else.finally (talk) 23:15, 15 December 2021 (UTC)

I don't remember per se, but as far as I know Sample prisoner's honey is the action that gave it. (See the earliest revision for a reference to the quality) Thorsb (talk) 16:52, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
Huh, alright, thanks! Try.else.finally (talk) 11:16, 17 December 2021 (UTC)
