Third Airs for Courts of the EvenlodeFirst Paragraph
5 - 8It is still the prosecution's opening speech, and already well past lunch. […] this is going to be a multi-day trial, and you have no way of ascertaining which days will have the gory bits […] and which will be concerned with tedious matters of precedent.
21 - 35The prosecutor is an up and coming young barrister, known for a somewhat flashy style in the court room. It wins them little favour with the judges, but does tend to bring people to the public gallery.
41 - 56The prosecutor is positively ancient, and long past any suitable date for retirement. They have a detailed grasp of all law that hasn't been changed in the last fifty years, and is always mildly surprised to learn that some of it has been updated.
62 - 77The prosecutor begins with an opening speech – for the wrong trial. They have brought the wrong notes. It is an hour before they find the right ones, to the increasing fury of the judge. This will surely count in the defendant's favour.
83 - 88The prosecutor is a master of succinct and devastating points. The judge looks delighted – no doubt at the possibility of an early finish. It looks bad for the defendant.
