2009[edit]
- 15 October – A beta version of Echo Bazaar, a Victorian gothic browser game, is released.[1] Players can request an invitation to play. The only means of authentication is a Twitter account. The game consists primarily of stories played through various storylets, available as long as their requirements are met, and cards, of which a limited number at a time can be drawn from an opportunity deck. Stories require actions to play, which regenerate at a rate of 1 every 7 minutes, and up to 10 can be stored at once. Playing tends to increase one of the four main stats: Watchful, Shadowy, Dangerous and Persuasive. These often dictate what stories are available to play. They can be raised up to level 50. After escaping from prison, players can find stories in various areas of Fallen London: Ladybones Road, Spite, Watchmaker's Hill, Veilgarden, The Forgotten Quarter, The Flit, Wolfstack Docks and The Shuttered Palace. Travelling to and from these locations is possible through Your Lodgings. Among the stories available from the very beginning are the early stages of the four Ambitions and a selection of dreams. - ↑ Discord, "Back in 2013, we put StoryNexus into maintenance mode. For the last seven years we've continued to host and maintain it, but over time the case for this has become less and less compelling, because of the increasing availability of excellent alternatives like ink and Twine, and also because of the dwindling number of active StoryNexus creators. In the last eight months, the number of third-party worlds to have received any updates can be counted on the fingers of a single hand. We disabled the creation of new worlds in January 2019, and in August last year we let you know that we planned to retire all user-created StoryNexus worlds. Now we have an update about what this will look like, and when it will happen. From the 15th July, world creators will no longer have access to the StoryNexus content management system. That means it will no longer be possible to edit StoryNexus worlds. Worlds which contain fewer than 50 branches or which are unpublished will be taken offline. (If you’d like to publish it before then, you can change the status of your world on the Edit World page. Provided that it meets the branch requirements, it will then remain online.) Remaining worlds – some 160 of them, by our estimate – will remain online and playable. If you would like to an export of your world’s data, or if you have any questions about your own world, please email support@failbettergames.com. Please make any requests for world data before 8th July."

- ↑ Discord, "Today we’re launching a permanent living-world expansion to the Waswood in Parabola. The Waswood Calendar allows you to experience some of the one-off events of Fallen London’s past, either for the very first time, or as a trip down memory lane. Ford the river and push past the vines to meet previous mayors at the Fruits of the Zee, and experience the intrigues of elections past – even relive the opening of Arbor of the Roses. And in the Waswood, false histories mingle with the truth; you may catch glimpses of the could-have-beens and never-weres of London’s history. The Waswood Calendar will rotate through a different past event every week, looping back around once each event has been shown. Some events – such as Mayoral appearances at Fruits of the Zee – will allow you to gain items or qualities that were previously retired, if you do not already have them. The calendar is otherwise not a profitable venture, but a slow, low-pressure tour through the past. The Waswood Calendar is available to all players who have a Parabolan Base-Camp and access to the Waswood. It starts its reminiscence today with Sinning Jenny at Fruits of the Zee."

Visit a reclusive Presbyterate kingdom on behalf of the Dilmun Club, and meet the Youthful Naturalist – an academic too radical for London's radical academics. How does his research fit into the Dilmun Club's ambitious quest? What, exactly, is he working on?
Consider this shorter, introductory chapter a taster of what's to come – we hope that it will leave you hungering for more, so we won't make you wait too long for a continuation. The next chapter will be released this summer, with the remaining five coming throughout 2022 and into 2023.
Evolution is available to everyone who has a ship and has delved into the mysteries of the Dilmun Club – specifically, you will need to have completed a trip to the Court of the Wakeful Eye and obtained the quality 'Associating with Radical Academics' at 75. Ordinary citizens are racing across the district with plates strapped to their heads to avoid messy projectiles hurled from the roofs. The Noughts and the Crosses are at war! Even more at war than usual, that is. We've made some tweaks to the Urchin War and it's back for round two. This Living World Event will run for roughly a week, or until the morning after one side achieves victory. Get involved from "A War in Spite", located – you guessed it! – in Spite."

- ↑ Discord, "Mrs Chapman's Boarding House opens its doors in Fallen London today! This content was unlocked by you, the Fallen London community, after you completed an astonishing 19 Social Goals during our Kickstarter campaign for Mask of the Rose.
Mrs Chapman's is a key location in Mask of the Rose, where Horatia, your landlady, keeps the house as best she can in the years following London's Fall. In the present day, the house's work continues, offering accommodation, company and repast to all those in need of it.
The arrival of the Boarding House allows you to visit a small new location in Spite. Inside you can sample the famous soups from the free kitchen, and mingle in firelit parlours and cosy nooks with a range of Fallen London's notable characters. Regular visitors may, over time, even be able to explore behind the scenes and learn more of the Prelapsarian house's history.
The range of soups on offer, as well as the clientele present, will change on a weekly basis. The guests will have different things to say during the various Festivals throughout the year."

- ↑ Discord, "‘UPPER RIVER DIRIGIBLE DISASTER!’ Residents of the Upper River have reported seeing a dirigible in flames – and a slew of crates falling from its hold. The Gazette implores readers not to open any crates they might encounter, carrying a letter from a man at Ealing Gardens who claims that one 'blew up his whole d__n house!'
To the Upper River's criminal element, this spells opportunity. The Constables, meanwhile, are furiously trying to get these 'misplaced' crates safely out of circulation.
Today, we've launched a new living world event in Fallen London. Players with access to the Upper River can help ensure that these missing crates get into the right – or the wrong – hands. At the end of the event, a new Opportunity Card will be added to the Upper River deck, offering the chance to gain Favours with the faction that has amassed the most crates. The event will run for one full week, ending next Tuesday."
